I want to remove a part of my hedge to add double gates ?
Question:How would i do this ?
would I be able to do it myself ? or need a pro ?
any help ?
Answers:
Can you do it in late autumn so that you don't disturb any nesting birds?
i saw a guy doin it the other day using a rope and a 4x4 and it worked quite well, a hell of a lot easier than diggin it out
How big/old is the hedge? Do you want an arch of hedge above the gates or just cut a hole in it? Do you have the adequate equipment to both cut the hedge and remove the roots?
tie a chain around the bottom part and pull up all the hedge at once
Use a saw to get through the bigger branches. Hedge trimmer to finish it off.
wrap a log chain around the bottom and hook it to your truck and yank that baby out of there.
Get the service from parks and garden to remove the hedge.but you'll have to pay them.
Hireing someone to take out a hedge that has been in place that long would be a lot easier(unless you have a tractor or dozer) to take it out. Much easier on the muscles to sign a check than dig a hedge.
