I have slugs eating my pumpkins. Hoe do you get rif of slugs?

Answers:
Place beer in a lid and put out in your pumkin patch at night. The slugs will be attracted to the yeast and crawl in and drown. Just keep doing it nightly and the population will decrease...
Or place around the pumkins some sharp stones - volcanic rock (sold at hardware stores). Slugs hate to crawl over stuff like that - it hurts them...

The beer- in lots of little lids -or cut some disposable cups shorter so you can bury them flush (even) with the ground. Empty them every morning and refill until the slugs are gone. I save the stale beer from kids visits just for that.

I would suggest Diatomaceous Earth. It is a non-toxic, safe substance made up from crushed fossils of freshwater organisms and marine life. Crushed to a fine powder and observed through a microscope, the particles resemble bits of broken glass. Deadly to any insect and completely harmless to animals, fish, fowl or food. Diatomaceous Earth has been effective against ants, aphids, salt marsh caterpillar, cockroach, cornworm, earwig, house fly, fruit fly, leaf hopper, mite, pink boll weevil, red spider mite, slugs, snail, termites, Japanese beetle (grub stage) and many other insects. Make sure you use a mask while applying it.
Another way is finely ground egg shells. They don't work against other insects, but the sharp edges will cut into the slug and make it dehydrate like the Diatomaceous Earth does.
run a ring of salt around the plant you want to protect don,t leave any gaps and i don,t think you,ll have much more trouble

IF YOU A GROWING ORGANIC FOOD YOU CANNOT YOU SLUG PELLETS.ONE TIP WOULD BE CUT A PLASTIC BOTTLE IN HALF AND SINK IT INTO THE GROUND THEN FILL WITH BEER<I NOT JOKING >THE SLUGS WILL BE ATTRACTED TO THE BEER I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT IT WORKS.ANOTHER WOULD BE PUT DOWN SOME ORANGE PEELS AROUND YOUR PUMPKINS THIS WILL DISTRACT THE SLUGS FROM THEM AND THE WILL EAT THE ORANGE SKINS INSTEAD.THIS IS ALL I CAN THINK OF AT THE MOMENT .
