Schooling for Horticulture?

Question:I am thinking of going to school for Horticulture(Greenhouse/Landsc... What kinds of jobs would I be able to do? Is it easy to find a job for this kind of stuff? I live up north, what would I do during the winter when there is snow on the ground and it is frozen?

Answers:
you could do landscape designer work you could do indoor landscaping for companies in the winter or you could work at an conservatory

I think you need to research a more broad spectrum of what "Horticulture" really is and covers.
There are so many different occupations in this category..
narrow it down more specifically to a certain occupation or two and see if there is work available year round.
A florist stays busy.very busy.year round.
A garden center manager would possibly be a little more seasonal, like spring thru fall.
It's a great area to explore, just try to find where you might fit in and seek it out, and get the training you need.
look before you leap, horticulture is not known for high income level jobs. That said, florists work year-round. Golf courses are year round and the equipment is a blast to run. Find out what people are earning and decide if you love plants and working with them enough to endure moderate poverty for a while.
Don't worry about it, if that's what you think you'll love, go for it. Whom ever you work for, won't expect you to starve during the winter. You didn't say where up north, but I'm sure there are farms up there-people will always need vegetables!
People will always plants and flowers, don't worry about the lean times, you'll make do.
You can always move someplace where it doesn't snow!
