Can you over water a bamboo plant?

Question:My friend used to keep hers in her fish bowl. So it was constantly just in water, and she had it for a long time I think. The one I just bought came ina pot but it has a bunch of tiny rocks- not dirt. So I can't tell if it has enough water or not. with the leaves I would say it is about 14-17 inches in height from the rocks, the pot goes down probably 3 inches or so ( I don't know if that helps) I just don't want this plant to die. It still looks healthy right now.

Lucky Bamboo makes the perfect house or office plant, needing little care but an inch of water and little direct sunlight to keep it happy and thriving...

i ahve one of those it is sitting in a pot with what looks like fish tank rocks but mine are tan... i keep the water level even with the rocks so i can see the water but it isnt over the level of the rocks
However she had it, if it did well and didn't die, imitate that.
You cannot overwater it.
the rocks are aquatic soil, used for pond plants. it should be changed every 3-4 months.the plant is easy to grow.keep the water a little above the rocks.don't use any fertilizer or it will die. distilled water is better to use than tap water
