Do I ALWAYS need to get a stand for a hammock, even if I want to hung it in my trees?
Question:I am planning to get my husband a nice hammock for Fathers Day. I don´t know what kind is the best, so if you have some brand names I will be glad to get them. Also I don´t know if I do really need to shop for a stand since I am planning on hung it in the trees in my backyard. Thanks for your help!
I appreciate it.

Not sure of brands or models because I haven't shopped for one recently; last hammock I used was handmade of cotton rope and teak, and was about 30 years old. Nylon holds up better, especially in moist climates.
A stand allows you to use a hammock where other supports are not available, or not sufficiently strong. If (and I stress *IF*) you can be sure the trees are strong enough and the hammock is properly secured, the stand is not necessary. (Also, if your hubby is too chubby the stand will bend.)
Best suggestion - have him hang the thing, then if it falls he has nobody else to blame.
Stand hammacks are no fun! Definitely get him one that hangs in the trees! You won't need a stand! Don't know any brand names but you may as well get the gift for you too. buy a double hammack! They're much more fun!!!!
If it's going into trees, no you don't need a stand for it.
When I bought my house twenty years ago there was a hammock with stand in a shed. I quickly found a spot for it under an old apple tree. Lying there looking up I realized with a little pruning I could hang it "in" not just under the tree. Now it's about 6ft. off the ground and reminds me of a tree house. It takes a bit of tree climbing to get in and out, but the peace and serenity once your in makes it worth it. RScott
