Looking for good shade trees that...?

Question:Don't loose all their leaves or make messes when their blooms fall off. We just moved into a house that has oleander trees which are just horrible and some oak trees w/ sticker balls that are all over the ground and make horrible sounds as I mow over them. I want to go with the tropical look with giant birds of paradise and red banana trees and lots of palms, but they're not so good for making shade.

Answers:
Well I will assume you are in a tropical area.what about southern magnolia? They are great for shade and quite beautiful. Cherry Laural and eucalyptus are good.

Here is a link to a site that lists evergreen trees. If you are unfamiliar with the scientific name, look at the common name in the middle of the table. :)
