Red Hot Poker Problem!?

Question:Any advice on how to stop birds (Blue **** I think) eating my Red Hot Pokers before they have finished flowering please?
They grow and bloom well in my garden, but the birds eat them almost as soon as they come into flower. It is nice to see the birds in the garden, I just want to stop them from doing this!

Answers:
Place a little plastic windmill (the type you get at the seaside) on a stick amongst the flower stems - provided there's some air flow the constant movement should deter birds.

You can try doing what the vineyards do to keep birds from eating the grapes- tie mylar ribbons to the plants and the birds don't like them so they avoid them..
I think they are looking for insects in the flower heads. As I am writing this, I can see the sparrows and t-it-s just outside my window on the flowers, but they do not seem to do any harm
Well from experience, getting birds to actually eat your poker can be something off a challenge. But shotguns always have the ability to get things to do as you wish
I have the same problem with my tomato plants. When they start to ripen, it's like the buffet is open. I rigged a support network made from PVC over the tomato's and then put netting on the network. I got the netting at my local farm supply store. You can also find it on the Internet. Search for "bird netting". It works fine for me.
I have seen people put plastic snakes or owls in their gardens. That seems to help sometimes.Try putting up a feeder for the birds, Then they will eat till they are stuffed and leave all your nice flower seeds alone. Just a thought! Good luck.
