Where can you buy Cherry Blossoms in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia?
Question:Just wondering because they are one of my most favorite flowers and I just want to buy them!
Answers:
Cherry blossoms happen when cherry trees flower, in the spring, for about a week or so. the fruit can be stored for awhile, but the flowers don't last. They happen in late April or early May for most of the country. The further you are north, the later the bloom period will be.
During the time when the trees are in bloom, you can cut a branch and bring it inside (with permission from the owner of the tree), or you can "force" them by cutting the branch about a month earlier, and but the bare branch in water, and have the blossoms inside a few weeks early.
Outside of that brief and very special time, the only way to have cherry blossoms inside is in a painting, or with silk (artificial) flowers. They keep getting better and better at silk flowers all the time. Sometimes I can't tell until I've put my eye close up, AND touched it.
