How do I get rid of an overgrown garden.?
Question:We moved into a house with a huge overgrown garden, thousands of hostas, weeds and other unknown flowers and plants. All I want is grass! What is the best way to get rid of it all? I don't mind a little hard work, but don't want to spend tons of money.
Answers:
Till it! Then plant grass
get a pitch fork and digor you could rent a tiller
Put out a sign " Free Plants " . Put a flyer , stating your situation , on bulletin boards, where they will be seen . ( Grocery store, convenience store , etc) You'll soon have plenty of people wanting to do the work for you . ( I'll do it !( If in the right location) - email me ;D)
Why you would want "just grass" , is beyond me . Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz *snore* ;D
I don't like using herbicides or weed killers, the best way I know is to plow up the whole garden. Plowing the weeds under and pulling some of the weeds up, and then planting grass. Maybe if, some of the wild flowers are pretty enough, you could transplant somewhere else, since some wild flower are very pretty.
if your housegarden is a small one then u can pull out all the weeds yourself.Do not water the plants. They will wilt.Make a target, that you can do it in a weeks time.but it will extend to may be a fortnight.whenever you are angry just go and pull out as much as possible.if ur garden is really big try to employ a person.
Give them away. Tell friends, family, and neighbors to come and dig up all they want. Before long the garden will be cleared and ready for sod or seed. Better yet invest 5 dollars in an add in you local paper inviting anyone who wants free plants to bring a shovel and to start digging. You would probably have an empty garden within one day. Man, I wish I lived near you because I'd be there.
Get a hoe and a rake and pull pull pull! We had the same thing last year. I yanked and pulled everything out and then put in what I wanted or kept some of the plants but repositioned them.
