Eating wild black berries??
Question:Is it safe to eat wild berries in my yard. i know that they are raspberries and black berries but is there a chance of getting worms or something from eating them?
Answers:
Wow, eat your heart out. The only thing you might get is diarrhea. :)
yummy, go nuts. As long as you're not spraying them with toxins or dumping stuff into your soil enjoy the free fruit.
Wash them.
Pay attention to if they've been sprayed with chemicals.
They're probably fine, we have wild blackberries all over my nieghborhood, everybody eats them.
wash em first if you have doubts
its very fun to learn about wild foods and to try them, make sure you know what you are eating though
especially mushrooms
Eat all you want, if you are still worried put them in a bowl and rinse them off in the sink.
Hi there, they are delicious aye, we do it all the time after work and you can't get worms all you'll get is some added protein if you were to eat one of the little grubs that can be found in them at times, I'd be more worried if there was a chance of any pesticide used on them. Dig in
I agree... .wash with cold water... and enjoy!
you should always wash all fruits and veggies as the bacteria from animals/bugs can be worse than any potential pesticide residuals...
You should be fine; people have been eating wild berries for millennia without harm. Even if you do get a bug, so what? I'm quite sure you won't die from that either. Enjoy the fruit, and don't worry about bugs - a little protein never killed anybody ;-)
Eat em up! There are few better things about summer than wild blackberries. My family would make a weekend trip just to pick buckets of them to turn into blackberry jam. But beware, they give you the runs if you eat too many at a time (experience unfortunately).
While you should wash them, tell that to a little kid. Other than dirt and maybe pesticides if they are used nearby, there is nothing to blackberries that will hurt you.
