Best way to plant a prairie in Indiana?


Question:My grandparents have a field that they'd like to turn into a prairie, but we don't know were to start.

It is about a three year process. See the link below for detailed information (its in the seed cataloque pdf) from Prairie Moon Nursery, they will also do telephone consulting.

Basically, they should grow Round Up ready Soybeans for a year to remove weeds from the soil, then plant a suitable seed mix. But the instructions are much more detailed. Call Prairie Moon!

They may be able to find someone locally who will consult on the project, they should ask their local extension agent. Also, there may be tax advantages, check with their accountant.
