It is more destructive to remove hardwood or softwood from the environment?
Question:i want some info on softwood being more destructive than hardwood
Answers:
The softwood will come back eventually. The hardwood could take centuries as it is very slow growing. The only angle I see for softwood harvest to be more destructive is if you consider where the wood comes from. Many pines or other conifers grow on mountain slopes in shallow soil. It seems clear cutting such forest risks causing serious erosion problems in certain areas. With silting of trout and salmon streams being of grave concern. Also some softwoods like California's Redwoods are limited in area and also take centuries to grow. Then there is the spotted owl in Orgeon whose existance was said to be threatened by logging of old grow pine forest. Of course, hardwood harvest killed off the Ivory Billed Peckerwood.
considering most hardwood takes years to develop and most softwood is new growth... im going to vote that it is more destructive to remove hardwoods than softwoods.
I say DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK lol
the ivory billed woodpecker is now an endangered species and is not longer extinct.
