Pinching Plants?

Question:What does it mean to pinch a plant or pinch the top off or pinch a piece off of a plant?

Answers:
It literally means to take your fingers and pinch off the top of the plant, or hand clippers and cut off the top of the plant. Sometimes it's easier to just pinch off a plant that has a tender stem with your fingers. Topping a plant makes it fill out and become bushier by causing the side stems to grow rather than the top.

Pinching a plant or deadheading means taking off the part of the plant that has died. For instance, all flowering plants should be deadheaded to promote new growth. Simply pinch off or cut off the finished bloom. Some flowers can simply be pinched out where some need to be removed down to the next stem. For instance, geraniums need to have the whole stem the flower is coming out pinched off. This will make room for the new buds to come up and is healthier for the plant.
to pinch off the plant means simply to "pinch" off the top growing part of the plant... usually no bigger then an inch! this causes the plant to become more bushy rather then tall and lanky! thats it.
to pinch off the top of a plant means to pinch off the top leaves of your plant this encourages your plant to develop new growth in the stem area, does your plant have all leaves at the top ?this pinching will force your plant to also grow new leaves at the bottom
You take the top few leaves of new growth off the tips of each branch/twig. This is usually done to restrict growth and to encourage the plant into a more bushy growth. Where the peices are "pinched off" will usually send out more branches/twigs, than the original one that was pinched off.
