you can deadhead(tip prune) spent flowers to promote additional blooms. wait till winter to prune. how depends on if you want it to grow wide or tall. it can grow 10 to 15' high and wide or 20 to 25' when pruned and staked for a tree form. hardy to zone 8b to 11= southeast u.s. often used as a container plant and must be protected in a cool house during winter. water lots when young. full sun. ample fertilizer
