Damaged tree ?

Question:I have a young weeping willow tree that I bought last year. I just restaked it but I noticed that where I staked it last year, which was just a peice of rope on a stake. there is a rub mark on the tree where the rope rubbed. looks like the bark is rubbed off at that spot. I restaked it correctly this time and at spots that will not get damaged. will my tree be ok and is there anything i can do to help it ?

Answers:
Don't worry about your Weeping Willow. They are tough. It will soon heal as do most trees. One thing you can do is rub soil onto the wound. The microbes in the soil will aid its healing process.

No problem. Willows are as tough as old boots, and as long as the tree bark is not fully `ringed`, the tree will be fine. I have seen them struck by lighting, blown over by gales, and collapse from old age, and ALL of those trees have recovered or grown anew from root shoots. With all Willows, when in leaf, water them often. The Weeping Willow grows here with its roots in a river.
