What about petunias?
Question:i am planting a flower garden in my yard.how far apart do petunias need to be spaced.Do they get taller than zennias
Answers:
They are vines so they don't get tall. They kind of "creep" on the ground. The best kind I have found is the "wave" petunia. Very full growth and lots of flowers! A snapdragon would go good with your zennias.
No Zinnias will be taller. When you buy your plants they should have a tag about spacing. I've gardened for years and if it way 12" apart I'll do 10. I like the way they fill om sooner.
Depending on what kind of petunias you plant , if you get wave petunias then you want to put them farther apart so they can have room to space out. The tags from the plants will tell you how far to space them apart, you can put them fairly close together without hurting them. They don't get much taller than zinnias.
petunias do not grow taller than zinnias, place your zinnias to the back of your garden this depending on are you planting seeds or are you buying plants already established.petunias will spread while zinnias will grow tall.remember to dead head both plants for a beautiful garden.petunias should be placed about ten to twelve inches apart whereas zinnia depending on the height should be placed more closely like eight to ten inches apart but all this info really depends on how much flowers do you like .or how much display do you want also remember petunias are beautiful in hanging baskets
no they don't get taller then zinnias.. if you have regular petunias you can plants them like 5 inches apart... that way you don't have gaps in garden unless you prefer that. if they get over crowded they will grow the other way.. petunias are good like that.. very easy to maintain good luck!
they get as tall as they are trained to get... with support that is! and they can be planted anywhere from 8 to 24 inches apart... they spread fast! don't fertilize em, and water em for the first three days after planting then back off to once weekly! thats all.. sit back and watch the show!
The other answers are good--the zennias are taller, the petunias will sprawl along the ground. The best petunias, if you can find them, are supertunias. They are hardier and larger than the other petunias. They continued to bloom for me even after several frosts last fall. They also grow to cover more ground. However, I haven't been able to locate them this year. If you can find them, buy them. If not, the wave petunias are the next best choice.
