You could plant some vegetables. Since you live in south Florida, you won't have to worry about frost until late December. I would recommend you to plant peppers from transplants since from seed, they won't mature until October. Tomatoes takes about 60 - 90 days to mature depending on the variety. They will mature from seed in late September. You should be safe with earlier varieties of tomatoes from seed. Longer maturing tomatoes, you should buy transplants.
I have a garden and I plant from seed in spring. Sometimes I buy transplants to harvest quicker.
I live in Tampa and I just planted green beans cantelopes and watermelons last week. You really shouldn't plant tomatoes until mid August though if you want to get the best results - too hot right now.
i lived in the florida keys 6 years and south florida uv rays take a toll on plants..it is different growing than most sunny areas..You are closer to the equater there than northern areas, and the uv rays are deeper even if the actual farenheit is the same as further north , the growing conditions are different...here is a link that will give you specific gardening times for all parts of Florida , and when and what to plant..
