How do you make a grape plant's roots sprout?
Question:My mom has this little peice of a grape plant she got from my aunt on a recent trip. As of now it is sitting in a glass of cold water geting lotz of sun. But how do you go along getting it's roots to sprout? All advice appreciated!
Answers:
Don't leave it in water, put it in the ground or a pot--pronto! Grape vines are extremely easy to root, but they need nutrients from the soil. They'll root within a week or two, and then leaf out. Good luck!
You can leave the sprout in the glass of water. I would recut it at an angle to make sure that the veins are completely open and I would purchase a rooting hormone powder. Make sure to change the water out weekly and redip the end into the rooting hormone with each water change. If you decide to put the sprout into the ground, do the same, recut, dip and plant. Then also purchase a root stimulator to help quickly develop feeder roots.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
