I recently put a new plant bed at my house and the plants are yellowing.?
Question:Is there anything that I could do besides water them to help them take root?

If they are outside they don't usually suffer from overwatering as the water should drain away, unless it's been raining and you didn't get any sun for several weeks. Sounds to me like they may have dried out between waterings. Don't let them dry out and be patient. When you water, give them a real good long drink so the water soaks way down past the roots. If you can add some mulch to keep them moist during dry spells to save water. You can even use grass clippings as mulch if you can't affort to buy some.
Other rare causes are really poor soil or the possibility of contamination from salt or other chemicals. Still I'm guessing they got dry.
yellowing is usually a sign of too much water,,,,,,limp is a sign of roots not taking. be patiant,,,also look at sun light requirements and soil quality. all soil can stand a little improvement unless it pure compost. I dont recommend mirical grow for anything but annuals, use a 10-10-10 fertalizer. A 50/50 mix of peat moss and original soil in each hole. Fish emulsion works great on new plants
There are cloning gels that you can buy at plant nursery's and rooting powders that you can find even in the plant section in wal-mart/ k mart etc. It is common for plants to go into shock at first when they go from potted plants to bedded plants. just give them some love and don't give up on them. You may want to check out what type of sun light those particular plants are supposed to have. Some need direct, some need indirect, and some need full sun. Check it out. And of course make sure that you are using a good soil. It makes a huge difference. Oh yeah, and sometimes when you buy the plants already in full bloom the flowers only last a lil while once you put them in the ground because they have already peaked for the season. Make sure that there are plenty of unopened buds on your future flowers so you will get to enjoy them longer. :)
The yellowing could mean you are watering your plants to much. I use Miracle Grow on my plants indoors and out and they are beautiful and we also use mulch or grass clippings around the newly planted flowers. try not watering as much and use a growth helper when you do.
Yellowing can also be a sign of nitrogen deficiency. Considering it's anew bed, that's not unusual. The soild needs to build up organic material with could take a couple of years of applying compost , peat, etc. I would apply a dose of a balanced granular fertilizer around the plants (read the directions). That will take about two weeks to work its way through the plants. In the mean time, try spraying a foiliar fertilizer on the leaves. I use a liquid nutrient called Agro All Purpose. Mix it half strength in a flood sprayer and wet down the leaves of each plant. Works great.
Another possibility could be an iron deficiency . If the leaves are yellow but have green veins then its probably a lack of iron. Get some Ironite at your local nursery and follow the directions on the bag. Hope this helps.
