White leaves in center of Dogwood bush?

Question:I have a Red Twig Dogwood bush, some leaves are all white in the center of it. The remaining leaves are varigated. The rest of the bush seems healthy. These white leaves are on red branches. That is the color of the branches in the winter. I live in Zone 5. Why are they white and what should I do about it.

What you are experiencing with your variegated dogwood is another naturally occurring mutation. To maintain your variegated dogwood, prune out the mutated stem as close to the source of this stem as possible.
