How do you make your collard greens grow big leaves?

Question:my collard greens dont get no bigger than my hand.how do you get the leaves big? also whats a good bug remedy, the bugs love my greens

Answers:
Greens like nitrogen. If you didn't fertilize your plot before planting, you could try some sidedressing with some nitrogen-rich fertilizer. Since these are greens, you might want to avoid animal-based manures, just to be on the safe side. Instead, check your local garden center for an organic fertilizer with at least a 10 for the first number.

Bugs that eat greens are often deterred by cloth netting. Try a light sheet or a garden cover over your row.

Planting them too close together will cause them to grow slow and be smaller. They should have plently of room.
