Can I grow a venus flytrap hydroponicly?

Question:I just got a small hydroponic tetrarium,
id love to grow a venus fly trap , but im not sure how. like do i use nutrients in the water, or just feed bugs?
do I buy a plant at the at the store, wash the soil from the roots and plant it in my medium.

Answers:
A Venus Flytrap "is" a hydroponic plant. They grow in wet areas lacking nutrients, hence their need to get nutrients from trapping insects. If you grow them hydro you must not add any nutrients to the water. If you do, it will burn the roots and the plant will die. You can leave the soil on in this one instance. Other insectivores might work in the same set-up. RScott
