Help garden snakes, they need to go! How to do it?
Question:These are not sweet little "garder" or "bull" snakes these are copperheads and poisonous. The live "RIGHT" next to my front door. I have put roundup and killed all the plants, and only dead roots are left. Grrrrr I am so afraid of them. I hate to go shovel it up and get a few. They always come in pairs. FYI- my son is normally with me (3yr) and so its just dangerous.
Help..Snake away!
Answers:
You say these are poisionous snakes and that is dangerous! Usually snakes don't just Live in one domain forever. However Home Depot among other retail outlets sells a product called "snake away". Lime and sulphur also runs snakes away.
get an outdoor cat. snakes eat rodents and your cat will eat the rodents, reducing the snake population
Call PEST CONTOL ,seriously, and they will get rid of them for you.
powdered sulphur
I would have to put a "FOR SALE" sign on the house the minute that I saw the first one. Too bad that there wasn't such a thing as exterminators or something to get rid of the ugly things. I only see gardener snakes up here in NH. In the early Spring, just before the ugly babies are born, I throw small fire crackers all the way down the stone wall (inside the rocks). But if one happens to be a little more brave than his buddies or family and even thinks of revealing himself..he gets cut in half with a shovel!! I know, I seriously need counseling for this! But, I will say, those firecrackers have done wonders!!!
they won't bother ur son! they are beneficial to ur garden... getting rid of worse stuff including dangerous spiders, praying mantis', other bitting insects that ur son could come in contact with! leave em be. if u have a nest then it would probably be good to have a pro or ur husband to go out and try to catch a few and take em far away from ur house! or get a cat that u can keep outside... it'll do serious damage to their numbers!!
You should move. The snakes were there first. Why are you raising children in a viper den anyhow?
snakes only show up when they have sensed their prey. if they go the prey stays(mice, lizards, frogs) howver you can purchase a product called snake-away, must be reapplied after rains.
Cat or larger dog. Where I grew up, we had to keep a hoe on the porch to whack cottonmouths, as we lived between two creeks. Even the dogs could not keep the numbers down.
