Answers:
Im frm the midlands and its not looking good. We were severely hit the other day with floods and it will happen again. The rivers are still high and the ground cant cope with more rain. No emergency procedures and i think i will build a raft. Peeps who says its a freak of nature can get stuffed. ITS GLOBAL WARMING. It aint gonna get any better unless we start to look after our planet. We have taken it for granted and this is the consequences of our actions.

All things considered the toll from this period of flooding is not too bad. Except for those involved the toll is quite light when compared with similar circumstances in history. Of course the problem for house holders is exacerbated by the insistence of builders to build on flood plain and farmers to drain highland bogs. this has made the water run off and into the rivers immediately. the best flood defence is to reinstate the high bogs and other wet lands, which had over time appeared for just this purpose.
I live near London, it's not too bad now. I was in Yorkshire when all the rain was happening, it was alot!! There were huge puddles but no flood where I stayed.

I'm in the US and I didn't know about the flooding in your area. Sorry to hear it though. I remember hearing and watching the Katrina flooding, so sad. There is not too much that you can take with you in that event though. I hope that there are no more lives lost and that the storms will stop for you all over there in the UK.
I really feel for you. Here in the southeast US we are in a drought situation and would love some of the rain you are getting. Everything is dying, leaves are already falling off trees. This is the first drought in over 50 years, and Texas, known for being hot and dry, is under water. Global warming, ya think? Wish some way to send some of your rain our way!! Good luck and try to stay dry!!
