I'm planning on buying a couple of goats and letting them multiply?

Question:What kind of pen do I need to build? Also do you know what the best kind of goats to have are?I want to resale them or just eat them.

Answers:
Definitely check the zoning for your area.

If you're looking for meat goats, research Boer goats. For dairy, look at Alpines or Nubians. For pets, think Pygmy. For fiber, Angora or Cashmere is the way to go.

http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/goats... for information on these and many other breeds.

Be sure that you research feed requirements, worming and vaccination schedules, predator problems (and how to properly fence for them), husbandry information, shelter requirements, etc.

Join a mailing list or online group that talks about raising goats. There's more to it than "buying a couple of goats and letting them multiply". They are a commitment.

wow.. people eat goats.. what has this world come to.. well anyway you would need a horse sort of pen because goats can brake it if it isnt strong enough (aka.. no chickenwire) just a plan chain link fence would work just fine!

good luck
u need help
before you start any plans, make sure that your land is zoned for goats.
Good luck getting them to multiply. Mine were so stupid they couldn't even do basic math.
You need to put a large pen up.If your land is fenced let them roam. They have a goat/sheep cross that is gentle and eats shrubs. They are called barbie doll or peeley ways. They make good freezer meat..
