Moles...Another question from a previous post?
Question:Ok, in my previous post I asked what could be causing golf ball sized holes in my yard... It's probably moles..Anyway, I was thinking do you think it would be a good method to put my dogs hair in the holes to maybe scare them off? I know they have poor eyesight/but a good sense of smell...Tell me what you think... I vacuum everyday and brush my dog every week, so there's plenty of hair...

Moles live underground - and are lone creatures so you will only have one in your yard, and probably the neighborhood - you will know it is a mole because they tunnel near the surface and leave that characteristic long stretch of raised earth. If and when they come to the surface the hole just fills back in because they do not leave the earth. Soooo what you are looking at is most likely a vole hole (or even a ground squirrel) which multiply like crazy and will leave tunnels through your grass (not the dirt) along with the underground tunnels. Put poison bait down the holes. Yes disrupting the holes bothers them - they just make another.
The easiest way to get rid of moles is to get rid of their food source.
Normally that is grubs.
I do not know of way besides fertilizer type products like Grubex. They are granular. Treat either front or back at a time and keep the dog on the untreated half.
If there are just holes these can be snakes
Moles and shrews push up very large mounds of dirt when present.
If it is just holes I would plug it with a rock
If you have dirt piles its best to trap them out-go to SOS Moletrapper.com buy their trap and video
