How fast does grass grow?
Question:At my school everyone has to chose something to research in and out of school. I have chsen how fast grass grows, does anyone have any imformation on types of grass the the growth rate. I live on the East-Coast of Australia so it would be better if you could list plants from and around that area.

I live in the US, so I'm not familiar with Australian botany. I do know that different types of grass have different growth rates. They also have different 'talents' for disease resistance, drought resistance, and the like. Some grass types will stay green over the winter, others not. Some grow a thick thatch that has to be aerated, others not.
Anyway; I can share my favorite research tool:

Either way, do a web research on 'grass species in eastern Australia'. Don't just click on the first site that comes up. Instead, right-click on it and bookmark it under a new folder:"grass research", or something like that.
Gather up about 10 sites, then go look at each one.
Throw out the ones that only want to sell something and keep the ones that offer real information.
Keep going with the original search until you have a few good sources of information. Often, the best informative sites do not show up on the first search page. This is because businesses do a lot of search engine optimization which makes them appear on top of the result lists. All that means is that they have clever webmasters. It does not mean that they offer the best information.
As a writer, I do a lot of my research like that, and so far, it has always brought about good results.
No matter how fast it grows, weeds grow faster and the neighbor's lawn is greener. Do a study on that.
Generally speaking all types of grass depend on two things,how fertile the soil is and how much irrigation it receives.
I recently Patched my Yard( the Bare Spots) with Kentucky Blue Grass. I Loosened the Soil well and then spread grass seed all over it well and then raked it in. I have been watering them everyday for the past 5 days. Its been very Hot here where I live. The grass is already starting to sprout..I don't know anything about the Grass in Australia, but I imagine it is about the same as here.
Quite a bit slower than does paint dry.
