Can pop corn be grown by planting the actual popcorn seeds. The ones people buy at the store to eat?

Question:I was told it can. I have never seen popcorn seeds in packets and tried there suggestion but nothing or where can I get some seeds.

Answers:
Yes.
I did that as a school project a century ago. (well it feels like a century ago).
I planted several popcorn kernels in dirt, then when they had sprouted, I planted them in a small garden and kept them well watered and in good sun
Eventually, they developed ears of corn that was all snarly looking, and when dried, they popped just great.
The "seeds" you are looking for are in the same things you eat. Dont pop it first, of course. Just remove some from the jar and plant it. I wonder if Microwavable popcorn has somehow been sterilized?. Get the most underprocessed kind you can. Organic sounds right.

dont think so
Sorry man, someone lied to you. Popcorn comes from CORN, and growing corn is a mighty task bud, Im from Indiana, I know!
No. You can get seeds from hardware stores and greenhouses.
Yes, you can buy seeds to grow your own popcorn. I got mine from a seed catalog and grew them just like corn. When you harvest your popcorn, they have to dry quite a while. Then just experiment with the best way to pop them.
