Poison sumac? how do i get rid of the plant? (not the rash)?

Question:my sisters back yard is full of poison sumac. how can she get rid of the plants? we looked online, and they only talk about getting rid of the rash...

Answers:
To kill poison sumac, try a herbicide like glycophosphate (Round-up or Ortho's Kleeraway), or triclopyr (such as Ortho's Brush-B-Gon poison ivy killer). You can also check with your local nursery or garden center. It may take several applications to get rid of it all. When you remove it, be sure to wear long sleeves and long pants that can at least be washed (if not discarded). Do not burn these plants, as the smoke can easily carry the urushiol; if you inhale it, it can cause a very serious reaction.

Its a pretty plant, don't get rid of it. I always like the compound leaves, reminds me sortof my most favourite plant.
use round-up, the concentrate form, mix with water and spray the plant it will die.
Use something like Round-up applied from a distance - maybe with a long handled brush to avoid contact with the leaves. You only need to get a little on for it to spread through the plant.
My husband works in a nursery during the summer, and he has told me that sometimes the only way to get rid of poison sumac or ivy is to pour bleach at the base of the plant.
If you want to target Poison Sumac go with a selective broadleaf weed killer that way you don't kill desirable vegetation and grass or ornamental turf.
A good selective broadleaf weed killer is concentrate Triple Threat.
