Answers:
You need to turn your pile. Use a shovel or pitchfork and turn the contents over a few times. This is important to do periodically as it adds air into the pile. My guess is that your pile is cold. Your pile should be hot.

Unless you want to plant them into your garden just leave them be. It sounds like your compost bin is doing well for plants to take root in them. Chances are most of your compost has changed to black earth which smells ok and much like fresh earth (kinda nice actually). Use a pitch fork or shovel to flip things around and I bet the smell wont be as bad as you imagine.
You can grab a pair of garden shears and lop off the foliage that will be growing. This will certainly slow their growth if not halt it completely and eventually they will begin to rot with the rest of your compost.
I had this happen a couple of years ago... I let them grow. When the flowers fall off and the plant starts to whither use a fork to turn the dirt over and you will find a potato for every flower that was on the vine. Mine went pretty good with a roast!
