Can someone advise me on how to bring back a dead lawn?
Question:I live in the Phoenix area, so it's hot down here. I have no idea what type of grass I have. It's dying all over the place. I need to know the best plan of attack to bring it back to life. When is the right time to do what? I see ads all over the place for this seed and that fertalizer. What exactly should my approach be?
Answers:
Some people in Phoenix actually plant lawn twice a year. My duaghter lives there-they have what they call summer grass. Not sure what type it is though. If you dont want to plant every year, try setting your sprinkler to come on about 3:00 AM. By watering in the coolest part of the day, your lawn will stay wet longer. Also fertilize it about once every three months. Talk to your neighbors and ask them what they do.

water water water water water water.. the roots of grass go down deep, and though it might look dead on the surface, once it gets some water on it, it will spring back to life
yes the best thing to do is if the yard is completly yellow just plant new grass seeds and water the lawn at least 2 times a week
It sounds like the best answer is water. In your area, because of heat and lack of humidity, at least 3 times a week, early in the morning for about 20 minutes.
water and re-seed in the fall
You're best bet would be to water at dusk/night. DO NOT water during the day, your grass will burn. Also, fertilizer is a good choice. Just go to a hardware store and buy Miracle-Gro general grass fertilizer.
