What % does peatmoss retain moisture for plants b4 it needs rewatering?
Question:General weather here~87 degree's rains once every 1.5 weeks.
Does it cut down on need for watering SO OFTEN if I inc. peatmoss in flower soil mixture?

You have to keep the peatmoss damp. If peatmoss dries out it will shed water and your plants will suffer.

Dry Peat is like a dry sponge, neither will adsorb water until they are dampened first.

If you have a plant that prefers being damp then you're Ok to use peat and you can water them every day.
But some plants, like Christmas Cactus, prefer to dry out completely between weekly waterings, so you should not use peat with this kind of plant.

In the garden peat is ok if dug deep where it will stay damp. But nothing beats compost for soil amending.
