Should i cover my Japanese maple trunk with something after part bark was removed?

Question:i was cutting grass and came to close to the tree. a small part of the bark came off. will the tree heal itself?

Answers:
You can cover the wound with bee's wax until it heal's

yes it will heal itself, but i'd suggest you go to the local nursery and get a small can of "wound paint" It will protet it while it heals and keep any bugs etc from moving in
As long as you did not remove a strip all around the trunk, the tree will heal.

Do not use any wound paint or pruning paint. These do not help the plant and may, in fact, slow healing.
Just put plain tar on it,it works better than paint, and is a lot cheaper than buying something at a nursery.
