My house (and the houses around me) have pidgeons nesting in the eves. How can I get rid of them - simply?
Question:We are in an area of new construction. Some people have put up fake plastic owls - but they don't seem to help. Given that we live in an urban area it doesn't make sense to shoot them.
Answers:
Remove the nests by hand if you're sure there aren't eggs or chicks in them.
Below are two websites I've used in the past to give me ideas of how to get rid of birds from our house:

There is an electronic device called BIRD-X. Its a device that puts out electonice noises that the birds dont like. The machine plugs into a regular outlet and runs about $150-400 a unit.
I hate to put it this way but the best way to get rid of them is to cover the eves with chicken wire assuming that there is wood, Staple the wire up with a high compression staple gun.
Go to your local hardware store and purchase a plastic owl figurine $30.00. Place it on or near where the birds are. Move it peiodically(monthly). This will keep other birds away also. If there are any cats in the area watch the reaction they have. It's pretty comical.
