Why ,after about four weeks does the soil in my seed trays in the greenhouse end up green ?

I'd say you're keeping the compost too wet. Whilst you want it to be moist/dampened, you don't want it too wet. If you can have your trays in a water tight flatbed it is easier to keep the level of moisture that is most effective without getting the top surface go green. you can then apply the water into the flatbed, and let the seed trays absorb the moisure upwards keeping the very top surface relatively dry if you gradually get the feel for when and how much water is required each day. watering from the top means top is always wet, encouraging the green moss coating. Even so, if you can only water from the top, water less. Though the top may appear to be drying out, just have a little poke of the compost to see if it's moist underneath, if it is, it's moist enough.

open the vents and let some heat out
Sounds like they are overly moist and are growing moss. It happens. It's not too deadly if you plant them soon after, though. I find that many greenhouse plants tend to grow moss if they are kept too moist.

It's a common problem.
This usually happens when you use fairly acid garden soil. There is a lichen present in the soil and it grows wherever the surface is not disturbed. It won't harm the seedlings. If you are growing plants that like lime, adding a little lime to the mixture will usually stop the green from forming. If you have lime hating plants, don't use garden soil - plant them in ericacous compost.
i had the same problem its moss and like me you probably water too frequently
