What is the best bricks for a small garden wall?

Question:

Answers:
Hi John.

In my opinion I think that a wall made from 'stock' bricks is best, as they weather well. They are a second hand brick, as I think their not manufactured anymore, hence this makes them rather expensive.

An alternative would be 'walling' bricks they have a ragged face to them, but may be cheaper. They weather just as well and also look good in a garden.

You can find either of these at your local builders yard.

Good luck with your new wall.

Well you'd probably be best getting a building material that is commonly used locally - your wall will look like a natural part of the environment then. If your house is brick, or there is plenty of brick used locally, then try and get the same brick or something very similar.

If there is no brick locally then your wall might look a bit out of place!
Retaining wall blocks work good or if you want a more natural look you could use stone or boulders to build a wall.
