Why do my sunflowers.?

Question:Why do my sunflowers have this white stuff where the bloom is going to be? It looks kinda like white ooze. Thanks so much

Answers:
They have it because that's the way nature takes it's course.

I have sunflowers, and it's nothing out of the ordinary. It's just how they begin to bloom.

It's probably spittle bugs. They are not good for plants, but not a severe problem. Here is a link to show you a little more about them. Spraying your hose on them may be the the easiest way to remove them. For more info, type "spittle bug" into a google search.

Good luck!
