Can I trim my roebelini palm tree?

Question:I want to cut off one of the 4 sections of the palm. 3 of them are about 8 feet tall and in great shape, while the 4th is about 4 feet long and shooting off to the side. Can I trim the smaller one off with hurting the entire plant? Do I treat then remaining tree with anything if I do cut it off?

Answers:
I had the same issue with mine last year - I trimmed off an entire stalk right at the base by the roots and there hasn't been a problem with it. I would say go for it - it also allows the tree to focus its energy on the healthier limbs.
