Petunia confusion, when the flower is old what part of the flower do you remove?

Question:do you just remove the petals or the whole thing so it will rebloom?

Answers:
The whole point of removing the spent flowers is so that the plant will not form a seed pod, and spend a bunch of energy and resources making seeds. You want it to spend energy making more flowers instead.

If you remove only the petals, the seed pod will still form. Pinch it off BEHIND the base of the flower (the little swollen part between the end of the stem, and the petals). That way, no seed pod.

Just the petals...it is called "deadheading".
Hi, remove the whole thing. Arn't they pretty? Bye
Remove the dead bloom. If the plants get long and scraggly you can cut them back and they will form new shoots.
Remove the old flower completely or any seed pods that you can find. That will keep it blooming.
Remove the petals as well as the as the calyx (the green parts that "support" the petals). Be especially sure to remove the ovary of each blossom, so that the plant doesn't set seed, and quit blooming.
