Scotts Summerguard (heat and insects) question, Fertilizer?

Question:We think we have an insect problem in our yard. We have random brown spots that we know isn't from animal pee or grubs. If it were grubs we'd be able to pull the sod up I guess. Last week we put down an application of Summer Guard through the Scotts program. How long until that really starts working and would it hurt to put another application down in a few weeks??

Answers:
Dont automatically assume it isn't grubs. In some cases you can pull up the sod easily, but also not so in some cases. For most insect cases, it takes about 2 weeks for the fertilizer to achieve maximum effect. This also is achieved if there has been rain or sprinklers for the fertilixer to soak in. If in another day or so you have no results, take one of your small brown spots, and remove the top2" of soil in about a 12 inch square. Go through with your hand on the bottom of the grass you take up to see if there are any other issues. If this doesn't help, simply remove the dead grass and re-sod, or seed with a good starter fertilizer. I hope this helps, grub worms can be deceptive, and seeing is believing. Good Luck :)
