How long does it take grass to grow from seeds?

Question:2 weeks ago, my yard was seeded with grass and fertilizer. How long will it take the grass to grow in full? I see patches of grass but not really any consistant growth pattern. I have been watering everyday but am thinking maybe I should get more seed to lay down.

Answers:
About a week to ten days.It helps to have an irrigation system for optimized efficiency and proper coverage of water. When seeding bare ground or filling in areas it is very common to have to overseed several times . Once the new grass is established in the spring, begin using a weed preventer such as Scott's Turf Builder Plus weed and feed fertilizer. Do not ever apply weed killers or other herbicides to vegetation that is not well established. Continue to fertilize and water regularly as you slowly raise the cutting height throughout the summer. At the beginning of fall you will be at the maximum cutting height and this will help insukate the ground during winter. You can also overseed with Winter Ryegrass to have a lush, green lawn all winter. It is a pain to cut though.

Should take 5 to 10 days. Keep soil moist during this time.
It depends on what kind of seed you used. If you used quick grow style you should see results consistently within the next week (at which point if you're still missing patches, then you can replant). But some of the other seeds take a little longer to latch and pop up. Keep watering for sure though!
we've planted lots of grass in the last few years (we are doing lots of landscaping) We usually put on a layer and always make sure the soil is moist. After about 8-10 days you should see sprouts starting to come up. When those sprouts are about 1/2 - 1", I usually spread another layer of seed. It takes us about 1-11/2 mos to get a full grassy area that blends in nicely.
