Should I Prune my ACorn Squash?

Question:THe plants are pretty big and already have lots of flowers. Is it advised I trim them so more energy will be focused on growing the fruits? Or should I just let them get as big as possible.

Answers:
If you think that your season is so limited that the plant won't be able to harvest all its fruits, then you might want to trim some of the female blossoms to concentrate the energy on ripening the remaining fruits. You might also do this if it looks like you're going to get way more fruits than you want. But trimming isn't really necessary in most cases. For now, let all the fruits develop. If you think you're within a week or two of frost, then start trimming off any new flowers so that the fruits already on the bush can ripen. And certainly, don't trim any healthy leaves--they supply the energy for the plant.

Oh yeah! You can trim off all teh leaves. I do that with my squashes, cantaloupe and melons...
