My Pachira (Money Tree) is looking kind of sick?

Question:I bought it from Lowe's yesterday but when I brought it home it looked like it got worse and a guy hit the branches with a box but it really only scratched it a little. Some of it's leaves are waxy and thin and wilting. My room is also kind of dark but it says it does fine in a dark enviorment. What should I do?

Answers:
I've had a few Pachira plants over the years. I've found that they are not fond of direct outdoor sunlight, but I keep them in a well lit room and on my porch (out of the direct sun) in the summer time. First, make sure there's a drainage hole in your container. (Over-watering kills more houseplants than any other practice.) But then I'd take your plant to a location that has more light. Preferably a porch outside but out of direct sunlight. I keep my houseplants outdoors in the summer but bring them back indoors when the night time temperatures go below 45 F. Hope this helps and good luck!
