Sweet potatoes in N.Y.?

Question:OK. I live near Albany N.Y. I planted some Boreguard 90 day sweet potatoes. I made the 12" hill, put down plastic and all that. Is the black plastic ok when it approches 90 degrees. Should I go by soil temperature and pull back the plastic when it gets to hot.

I never heard about putting down plastic . but I would remove the plastic and let nature take its course . when the vines start to get droopy its time to dig them out of the ground . if you want some before harvest just dig into the side of the hill take what you want put the dirt back over the hole . does the plastic not stop the water from the roots ??. as a teenager we took our living from the ground in west virginia
