There are over 40 varieties of the Koa tree growing exclusively on the Islands of Hawaii. Early Hawaiians used its wood for finely crafted canoes and surfboards. Today, it's harvested mainly for the production of high end furniture. It's dark, hard, and finely grained wood makes for some fine products. The Ukulele is made from the Koa wood also. The Koa Tree can grow to some 100' tall and have a trunk diameter of around 6'. Hope this answers your question..
