How do you get rid of sand burrs...for good/?

Question:

Answers:
Pull or dig up the females, they are the seed producers. There isn't an easy, for sure way. They are pernicious little darlings.

I honestly don't know. Growing a thicker turf that does not allow them to germinate each spring is probably the best answer. They are annuals so having strong perennial turf, the sandbur should be crowded out. But if you have crabgrass or other annuals in the turf, you'll also have sandbur. As for outside the turf, I Round-up them as soon as I spot them, but will never be totally successful. I have very hairy dogs, they always manage to find the seeds....
always stay on top of the weeding. DO NOT LET THEM GO TO SEED. if you aren't diligent about getting to your weeds before they go to seed, you will never get rid of them.
