Mixture of soap and ammonia repels mosquitoes on lawns?

Question:Is it true that mixing lemon scented dishwashing detergent and ammonia then applying to your lawn helps repel mosquitoes?

Answers:
I would think ammonia would be a bit harsh on the landscape. A cheap way to get rid of mosquitos is to remove any standing water on your property where mosquitos might lay eggs.
I've heard Mosquito & Gnat Powder is very good and something you can spray on your lawn http://www.gardeners.com/mosquito-repell... Gardeners Supply also has Mosquito Control Rings that you could put in your pond or water garden. Good Luck !!

Yes! Use a 20-gallon hose-end sprayer to spray the area with a mixture of 1 cup each of lemon-scented ammonia and lemon-scented dish soap. Spray 3 times a week either early in the morning or late in the evening. Neither the ammonia nor the dishwashing soap will harm your grass or plants.
yeah and it will kill ur lawn also same with amonia will kill grass roots and the weeds will keep on growing u may have repelled mosquito but uve done even more damage than what its worth
