Answers:
Why is the cedar tree popular in the western region? I don't believe that it is. Cedar trees are like weeds. They grow like weeds and they spread like weeds and a lot of people consider them to be a weed. So, I would say that cedars are not popular, we just can't do anything about them. However, I personally like cedars because they are pretty and evergreen, but I don't have to deal with them taking over my property.

They grow well in drought conditions, they are very hardy, they make a good screen for privacy from your neighbors. They also make great firewood.
They are bug resistant to just about every kind a pest out there. They give off a very pleasent aroma. Even in a rough cut they look nice. Matches great with black adornments.
