Lillys in pond?

Question:i own a 10ft by 7ft pond, the lilles in my pond have taken over covering 80% of the pond.
should i cut them back or leave the as they are as the give the koi quite a but of cover??

Answers:
If your primary concern is for the koi, do nothing...they need the shade...and it still leaves you some water to see...but if you'd like to see more water; cut back maybe a third of the plants...If yours is a natural pond with a dirt bottom...maybe dig up a few plants(the roots are edible; cook like a potato)...

id cut them back the fish also need light to keep skin deseases at bay xx
Remove at least half of them, the fish will benefit and so will the pond in general including the lilies themselves.
Your water will stay really clear with all that cover and you will reduce the risk of getting blanket weed .If it is totaly covered I would take some out so I could see the fish.
the pond is a reflection of u so have the pond to your desire
I would cut some back the pond also need sun light
Get her out. Tell Lilly she must use her own bath and to leave your goldfish alone.
Actually most pond "experts" recommend the surface be 70-80% covered with pond plants; they shade the fish and compete with algae for sunshine. Cut back if you wish, but do it conservatively; you can always cut more away but you can't put it back after you've cut it!
