What seeds can I buy to grow very quick attractive flowers for containers on my patio this summer ?...?

Question:Or am I too late ? I just want to grow something bright and colourful either from seed or using bedding plants, I live in North East England with a South facing patio.

Answers:
it's probably a little late for seeding. Find some bedding plants you like and plant away for summer color.. (bear in mind that we are already halfway through summer.. it's mid July) .. It takes seedlings a while to be able to be ready to blossom and to have adequate size to be seen.

Petunia and vinca are both good for quick color for sunny areas.. try a wave or tidal wave petunia.. TONS of blooms!

Marigolds, petunias, violas, impatiens; all should do well.

You need bedding plants now, buy them from a market or a car boot for a bargain, you will be able to pick out a good mix. Try a pot with herbs in as well, chives look really nice if you dont pick them. Cover the top of the soil with small stones or glass beads (all colours).
While I don't exactly know the climate in your area, I am guessing North East England is far from tropical-like and thus planting seeds would not be a good idea. Anything you plant at this point will just be getting to the point of flowering by the time fall arrives. I think you will be a lot happier picking out some colorful, already-flowering bedding plants.
